Sim Lim Square

Still in search for the digicam, I and my friend went to Sim Lim Square as referred by his former instructor/co-employee, Ken. Ken said it would be better to know the digicam model first before we go to Sim Lim Square. Since I know particularly which model I am looking for so there no problem with that. We were just eager to go to Sim Lim thinking that we could get the same digicam model for a lower price compared to Lucky Plaza's lowest bid so far of $200.
Then our search begins...
The first store that we asked offered that digicam for $230. Then I said that the other store gives it to me for $165. So he agreed to give to me for $150. But he surprising get another digicam model and convinced me to buy it instead of Olympus. Oh my! same story again! Since I was now familiar with this tactics, I said "Thanks but I really want the Olympus". Then he said, "ok. but we have no stock for now. just for this one." Arrrrggh! So we went out.
The succeeding stores that we asked even bargained the digicam for $100 and $80 but we still have to come back after 2 hours or tomorrow. And ofcourse never they won't forget to insist their old digicam models to be bought instead. We were both getting pissed off by the way they're fooling us. What's their problem? Can't they just give us their best real price for that digicam model so we won't be confused to how much lower that digital camera could be. There even this one store which refuses to test the digicam in the condition that we're gonna buy it. But what if I dnt like it? Can't I say no? The funny part was when I asked if that digicam has zooming function, he said "Yes yes. I'll show it to you". Then suddenly the system hanged. Haha! Quite ashamed, he changed the topic and restarted the camera. And he still insisted to buy that "very durable" camera. The owner gave us a hard time to go out of his store but I managed to be franked to him and we went out.
Having an idea of their foolishness, we started asking if they still have stock of Olympus XX model prior to asking the price so they won't tell us they have no more stock after giving their bargain price. Still very clever, they would say "You just get the displayed item without the box, usb, softwares, etc". YOU ARE ALL SO IMPOSSIBLE! Grrrr!
We finally gave up and went home empty handed. It's not our loss. It's theirs. The day next I went to Luck Plaza and bought the Olympus XX model for $190 only with the complete set!
Just a piece of advice:
NEVER EVER GO TO SIM LIM SQUARE.

Beware! - Part 1

Hey folks! If you're planning to go to singapore I suggest you read my blog first to get you aware of their foolishness.
No offense to other locals because I'm only pertaining to sg store owners.

1st Encounter: It was tuesday night when i decided to have a walk along Orchard Road and buy this pink blouse displayed in Urban Warehouse. Then suddenly I saw this electronic store beside UH with the signage that says
"Today only
Lowest price in town
Digital Camera"
Since I'm planning to buy digicam I went to this store.Below was our conversation
Akira: How much is your Olympus XX model Digicam?
Owner: $200 sg dollars.
Akira: (Hmmm...just the same with the other stores in Lucky Plaza. It's not really on sale)
Is that the best price that you can give me?
Owner: Yes, yes. This is already cheap. Look. (Points to the signage)
Akira: Ok then. I'll just come back.
Owner: OK! If you come back I'll give it to you for $165!
Akira: (quite surprised) Really? Are you sure? $165?
Owner: Yes. That is if you come back.

(Unfortunately I didn't bring enough money that time so I go back to my room and get the money.)

Akira: Hi! I'm back. I'll buy it.
Owner: For whom is this camera?
Akira: Mine.
Owner: Oic, so this will be for yourself. Why buy this model? Here. This one is far more better than that, Kodak Digicam. Olympus XX is already an old model. If you'll buying a personal camera you better invest for it. Here, take a look. Blah blah blah...

(Inshort, he's convincing me to buy the kodak model instead of the Olympus. He even say bad things abt it. Since I have no idea how much the kodak digicam is, i said:)

Akira: Ok..ok.. Is it ok to come back again? Because I still have ask for that model to the other stores.
Owner: Ok.

(Surprisingly, all the stores that I asked said that they have no kodak model in stock. Wondering why, I asked the last store:)

Akira: Why don't you have this kodak model?
Owner2: Oh, it's really an old model.
Akira: (hmm..i smell something fishy..) Really? Which is a newer model? Kodak or Olympus?
Owner2: Olympus is newer. Kodak model is already obsolete. Nobody is selling that nowadays. You must buy Olympus, this camera is really good.
Akira: Oic. Ok thanks anyways. I'll just come back. (joke joke joke, hehe)

(So that means that old guy is just fooling me around. He wants me to buy his old stocked kodak camera over Olympus. He even priced it a little higher compared to Olympus. whattah!)

Akira: Hey, I'll buy it anyways. (referring to Olympus).
Owner: Ok. You wait. Because I still have a customer.
Akira: Why still wait when I'm just about to buy it already?
Owner: Sorry. You wait first.
Akira: Huh?
Owner: (Saw his friend coming) blah blah blah "Kausapin mo muna ito sa labas." (i think)
Friend: Excuse me. You have to wait outside because he's still talking to a customer.
Akira: What? Can't I just wait here? Or why dont you assist me to buy that camera. Are you his assistant?
Friend: No no. Im not his assistant. Im in this fabric store beside it. I sell fabrics.
Akira: (talga lng ha!)Ok.
Friend: Why dont you tour around or go back to your hotel and just come back at 10pm instead of waiting here.
Akira: No thanks. I'll just wait.
Friend: Ok.
(After XX minutes)
Akira: Hey, Aren't you selling me the digicam? Because I've been waiting here for a long time.
Owner: Ok. Lets just wait for my assistant. (referring to his friend)
Akira: Ooook. Why do we have to wait for your assistant? I thought you're the owner?
Owner: Ok. you're really buying the digicam? If you buy that you still have to buy it's softwares, usb port, etc. tak..tak..tak..(calculator) It's gonna be $230!
Akira: Whaat! You're so impossible. You made me come back for 3 times and made me wait for how many minutes, then only to find out you're not giving me that camera?! You're soooo impossible! What's the name again of your store? (as if planning to report it to the police)

Actually I'm not really expecting him to give me the camera. I just want to have a conversation with him so it can be heard by his customers so they'll know that he's a liar. hehe. After my piece, I really feel that they are starting to doubt him. Unfortunate thou that they agreed to buy the video cam already. But you know what? Their credit cards are not working. Even if they tried it with the other banks. The owner even called the bank about it. Karma! That's what you call karma! Har har har!

When I came back to the hotel, I reported the incident to the hotel manager so as to inform them and hoping that they'll do something about it.

As a Cook

There's a saying that the best way to a man's heart is through his stomach. This saying is not that true for me. In my case kc I just discovered that I'm a good cook pala after I and hubby got married. I believe that the best way to express your love to your family is to feed them good, delicious and healthy food. I got it from my mom I'm sure.
Last weekend we were in my in-laws. Since it's my hubby's bday (Happy Birthday Dad! Muah!), we planned to cook for them instead of treating them outside (mas makakamura kc eheheh). Kidding aside, it's simply because honestly we dont know where to treat them. So the best idea we think was just to cook carbonara ala noreena espesyal sa kanila. And they loved it (but ofcourse!). I served them ginataang langka with daing for lunch, and menudo for dinner. I heard papa telling my husband that night "Sarap nung ginataang langka ni noreen. Nanginginig na nga ko sa gutom eh. Ngayon lang kc kmi nakakatikim ng mga ganon pag nand2 kyo." Palakpak ang tenga ko, grabe! Ansaya talaga ng feeling pag may nasasarapan sa mga lutuin mo. Appreciation is indeed enough to suffice your effort in cooking the dishes. Yes, they were just simple dishes but for them I tastes more delicous compared to resto's. (wag nang kumontra, ok?hehe)
Ey, I think mas applicable sakin kung babaguhin ko ung sayings na ito to:
"The best way to your in-laws heart is through their stomach." ahihihi ;)

RX Entry

It's my and my husband's habit to listen to Rx's Morning Rush every morning on our way to office. As soon as I got into the car I've heard that their Top 10 topic is "Things you shouldn't do simultaneously". A recycled thought popped into my head which I've just read from Marhgil's blog. "Don't think while your mouth is open." I asked Marhgil's permission to use his thought to send it Rx as an entry. I texted Rx hoping that Chico will choose my entry out of many listeners actively participating in their daily Top 10. Then when I was one stoplight before where I'll drop off, I've heard Chico...
"And from Kukote...'Thinking and leaving your mouth open'. Try to look at yourself on the mirror and you'll definitely look stupid.'
Whooa! It was chosen! I was very surprised and excited then as if I won a prize. Not just it was mentioned in the Top 10 but they also discussed and made fun of it in the radio.
You go kukote!

Elite CoEs

Training at Certification Part 1

We are expected to take (and ofcourse pass) the certification exam after the training. Actually, this is not my first time to take a certification exam kc nakapasa na ako sa Solaris 8 Sys Admin 1. Medyo kabado lang ako kc dami pinagbago at dinagdag sa Solaris 10.

Defragging Mode

Pressured, challenged, determined and excited.
These are what I'm feeling now. I've been taking up Solaris 10 System Administration 1 training since last week. And I'll be taking the certification after that. I need to study very hard and memorize a lot of commands, file systems and everything about Solaris Sys Admin 1.
I don't really have time to write blogs nowadays or even any good ideas to write since my brain is too occupied with Solaris thingie. If you open my brain you'll see this...
#input /my_brain
Not enough brain space. Please start to defrag your system.
#defrag /my_brain
Wait. This may take a while...
100% Completed.

This is the first from the three trainings and certifications that I'll be taking up for six months of being probationary. The results of the exam determine my regularization in this company. Which I haven't experienced for my whole career life. But I was never jobless
Would you be surprised if I tell you that I've never been regularized in my whole career life? Though I'd never experience being jobless. As soon as I graduated I was immediately employed in Mapua. Then, before I resigned in Mapua, there's already a job waiting for me the day before my resignation takes effect. Same thing happened when I transferred here in SUN.
