Bad things...Good things..
This has been a very long and exhausting week for me. I was supposed to take my certification exam last monday but it was moved yesterday because there were no more slot for that day. The news really disappointed me because I'm tired of reviewing and memorizing the same old commands.
Then came tuesday, we were asked to setup two servers and install an operating system. We had difficulty configuring the machine at first because it didn't display anything onto the monitor. After figuring it out, we finally started installing the OS and put some patches in it. That's our first OT for this week.
The next day, we just continued what we had started and restored some of the data required for the servers. We had our lunch when the system started to restore the file system. When we came back, there's an error saying that there's no enough disk space. So we tried to create a raid from the remaining disks. After that we just continued restoring the data. This has become another OT for us. We went home with a piece of a relief believing that we expect no more error the next day. We really need to close the activity that day because we were scheduled to take the exam the next day afternoon.
To our surprise and disappointment, the machine can no longer reboot after the restoration, which made our problem complicated. We were pressured to solve the problem immediately but we knew to ourselves that we should be preparing for our exam instead. I called the main office to dispatch another engineer as our replacement. Our exam would be at 1pm, we left Quezon City at 10:45am, we still need to go to Makati main office to get the voucher and eat our lunch before going to the testing center. We had a long way to go, 20 minutes walk from the office to MRT station.
Then at MRT, we were told that there's an accident happened in Cubao station that won't let the train pass the railway. How I wish they've told it very soon so we won't be waiting for almost 30 minutes. When we got down, most passengers are looking for taxi. The taxi ride made me really dizzy that I almost want to vomit inside the car. Thank goodness I had a mint candy inside my bag. It was 12pm when we arrived in Makati office and we still have to eat our lunch. Since it's lunch time, the queue was long that took us 45 minutes to order our meal. We only have 15min before our exam so we decided to eat our lunch inside the taxi instead. We were very hungry but we couldn't finished our meal. We were very tensed, harassed and exhausted of what we had experienced that morning alone. We almost did'nt want to take the exam because of too many unfortunate things happened. It seemed that it's bad sign.
Solaris 10 SysAd certification is very hard. Not that I expected it to be. Far more difficult comparing with Solaris 8 SysAd 1. Nevertheless, I passed the exam. Hurray! Tho I aim for a high score, at least and the most important is I passed the exam with an average score. I may say that it's the only good thing that happened that day but it overcome all bad things. We finished the exam at 3:30pm and we still need to go back in Quezon City to continue what we had left that morning. Since there's no MRT, we took a bus. We arrived back at the office at 5:30...
That's it! A very exhausting day indeed.
